Student Council
The Student Council is improving every year, whether it is through designing eco-friendly projects such as the pond or raising thousands of pounds for Children in Need. This year’s Student Council has successfully improved both the Peer Mentoring and Mediating scheme, which now provides support and advice for students across the board. In addition the Council has worked with the College to improve the REACH award scheme, which is now effectively used by all members of the College and is a fantastic way to celebrate the success of our students.
The Student Council have also previously created a fantastic interdivisional sports scheme which provides healthy competition for all years and the teams are not only growing in numbers, but also obtaining many awards. The annual Children in Need Day is regularly regarded as the most incredible achievement for the Student Council, as not only do staff and students get to enjoy setting up and running the stalls, but their efforts have helped the College thousands of pounds for those less fortunate than ourselves. In 2009 we had our best year yet, raising over £10,000. A fantastic achievement!
In order for the Student Council to accomplish such achievements and run effectively, they hold meetings throughout the year to discuss the vast amount of feedback from students relating to ideas and improvements they have for the College. Such input and attendance to the meetings provides the perfect opportunity for both younger and older students to get involved in College politics, and to put their stamp on Landau Forte College, Derby. The recognition and success of the Student Council has dramatically improved over the years and we are sure that such incredible achievements will only increase in the years to come.
