Foreign Languages Spelling Bee
Throughout the year, students at Landau Forte College Derby have been participating in the Foreign Languages Spelling Bee. All Year 7 students had the chance to compete in the College wide competition and four students from Landau Forte College Derby went on to represent the College at the Regional and then National Finals. For German, Myles Dobson and Charlotte Mould took the stage. Myles won the Regional Final and narrowly missed out on the Grand Final of the National Competition. For Spanish, Isabelle Moss and Aroon Akhtar competed. Aroon gave a sterling performance, but Isabelle went one step further, not only making it to the Grand Final, but winning the entire competition for Spanish. We are very proud to have the National Foreign Languages Spelling Bee Champion for Spanish, Isabelle Moss, in our College and to have the winning trophy sparkling away in our trophy cabinet. Well done to all those who entered!
Particular thanks to Nick Dobson, Director of Learning for English, for accompanying the students to both Nottingham and Cambridge for the finals and to Dominik Banhold and Estefania Pascual, our Foreign Languages Assistants and to all the members of the languages team, who voluntarily gave of their time to help the students practice.
