How do I apply?

To apply to Landau Forte College Derby Post 16 you must first complete the application form that can be found in our downloads section. Alternatively you can either request one directly from Miss Watson at the College or pick one up from Connexions or your local Secondary School Careers Department.

On the application form you must complete details of your predicted grades for your GCSEs and the courses you wish to study at the College. We also require a copy of your most recent school report.

What happens next?

All students that request a Prospectus will be offered the opportunity to visit the College on one of our Information Evenings.

The Information Evenings will give students the chance to view the College and meet current subject tutors and various students from the Student Council. Information will be available on courses, entry requirements, resources and the structure of the curriculum.

The deadline for applications for admission to Post 16 Education 2013/2014 is January 31 2013.

When will I hear about the outcome of my application?

We will write to advise you we have received your application but you will not hear from us again until late February, when we send out letters to all students that have applied informing them of the outcome of their application. If successful, a conditional offer will be made which states the combination of subjects offered (please note that courses offered are subject to demand).

Students will either receive a conditional offer or a ‘hold’ until GCSE results are known. Return slips, indicating whether the student wishes to accept or decline the conditional place, must be completed and returned to the College.

I have my conditional offer, what happens next?

All students that are given a conditional offer will be invited to take part in a ‘Life at Landau’ session during April. You will have the opportunity to attend a session of one of the subjects you have chosen on your Post 16 Pathway to experience being part of ‘Life at Landau’.  We will accommodate requests on a first-come first-served basis. You will attend the College for up to 3 hours in one or more timetabled sessions and will be able to speak with current Post 16 students who will share their experiences of their time here. In addition, if you have any particular queries, you can discuss these with a tutor.

What happens when I receive my results?

The final stage of the application process is GCSE Results Day. All students holding a conditional offer must contact Miss Watson to provide their results on this day. The majority of students will be advised straight-away if their place can be confirmed and any queries will be dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible. Students must confirm whether or not they wish to take up their place at the College.

All places will be confirmed in writing, stating the subjects on your chosen pathway. The letter will state full details of the Induction programme that will be run on the first 2 days of the academic year for Year 12 students.

Students must bring with them copies of all exam results.
