General Queries
- How do I apply for a place at Post 16?
We have a detailed guide on how to apply and the application process here. - What are the grade requirements for the Post-16 courses?
All grade requirements and course combinations are detailed in the Course Details booklet found in the Prospectus pack and also in our Admissions Procedure. In addition to satisfying specific course entry requirements, students must also meet our Admissions Criteria and possess the following qualifications:
- Five GCSEs at grades A* to C - I have forwarded my application but not heard anything back. What happens now?
Once we receive your application we will automatically request a reference and details of predicted GCSE grades from your present school. The majority of our decisions are made in February each year. Students will either receive a conditional offer or ‘hold’ until GCSE results are known. If you apply to us after this time, we will respond as soon as your reference is received. - Will I need to attend an interview before I can apply?
No, all conditional offers are made by considering your application along with predicted grades and your previous school’s recommendation regarding the suitability of your chosen courses. - Will I have an opportunity to come and visit the College?
Yes. Full details of these events can be found on our Information Evening page. Information will be available on courses, entry requirements, resources and the structure of the curriculum. You will also have the chance to meet students and staff. Once you receive a conditional offer of a place in Post 16, you will then be offered a further opportunity to attend a ‘Life at Landau’ Experience Visit before you join. This will take place during normal college hours and will give students the opportunity to experience a typical day. - How do the Tutor Groups work?
You will meet your Personal Tutor, along with your Tutor Group, for Session 3 each day. You will be in a ‘vertical’ group with students of all ages, from a few from each of Years 7 through to 13. For all other sessions, groups will be made up from students in your particular year group.
What to do on Results Day
- I’ve got a conditional offer. Do I need to ring you on GSCE Results Day?
Yes. Please contact Mrs Sokolowskyj or Miss Watson. - I’ve got a conditional offer, but my results are not as good as I wanted. Is it still worth me ringing?
Yes. Please contact Mrs Sokolowskyj, who will take your details and refer your application to Miss Grant, who will call you back during the day or evening. While we may not be able to offer you a place on the courses you originally applied to study, we will endeavour to find a suitable pathway at the College for you. - I wasn’t originally offered a place, but my results are better than I expected. Is there any point in phoning on Results Day?
Yes, absolutely. Please contact Mrs Sokolowskyj or Miss Watson, who will take your details and refer your application to Miss Grant, who will call you back during the day or evening. - I am on holiday on GSCE Results Day; do I need to advise you of my results while I am on holiday?
Yes. We still need to be advised on Results Day as all final decisions are made on that day. Please arrange for a member of your family/friends to advise us of your results by telephone in your absence where possible.
